ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY

For life threatening conditions, call 999 – Accident & Emergency (A&E).
Emergency services are very busy. You should only attend Emergency Departments (A&E) if you are very badly hurt or if you become very seriously ill (life-threatening). This would include:
- Life threatening choking
- Chest pain
- Blacking out
- Severe blood loss
- Severe breathing difficulty.

This service is available seven days a week, 10am to 10.30pm.
X-ray opening times at this MIU are as follows: Monday to Saturday 10.00am – 6.30pm; Sunday – 11.00am to 5.00pm. These times are for the MIU patients only.
If you are attending as a referral from your GP for an X-ray, please use the following times: Monday to Friday 10.00am – 1.30pm and 2.30pm – 5pm; Saturday 11.00am – 1.30pm and 2.30pm – 5pm; Sunday 12pm – 4pm.

OUT OF HOURS DOCTOR

Call NHS 111 available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Call 111 if you need health advice at the evening or weekend or if you are not sure which service can help you best.
The out-of-hours service provides urgent medical care from 6.30pm to 8.00am on weekdays and around the clock at weekends and bank holidays. It can help you if, for example, you have a fever or sickness but do not need to go to a hospital Emergency Department.
Remember to call first before going to an urgent care centre.
Patients do not need to register for urgent care services.

MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS

If you experience mental health crisis at the weekend, you can get support with Oxford Safe Haven by calling 01865 903 037 or call the Samaritans 24/7 on 116 123 www.samaritans.org
Oxford Safe Haven is an out-of-hours, non-clinical space offering crisis support, signposting, safety planning and listening support over the weekend.
The Oxford Safe Haven is open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday from 6pm until 10pm.
The referral line is open from 5pm on the day of the service and the last entry is at 9pm.
You must call first. We may not have a space if people arrive at the venue without calling ahead.

URGENT DENTAL SERVICES

For emergency advice or treatment please call: 111
Between 6.30pm to 9.30pm Monday to Thursday, 9.00am to 6.00pm at weekends, 9.00am to 5.00pm and 6.00pm to 9.00pm on bank holiday weekends and bank holidays.
This service is available to all Oxfordshire residents (including temporary residents and visitors). Callers will be phoned back for triage and provided with either advice or offered appointments for emergency treatment. This service is for people with urgent or emergency needs only and therefore does not provide routine care or repeat appointments.
You can also call 111 for details of NHS dental practices offering emergency appointments.
If you need to urgent dental advice or treatment in the evening or during the weekend, call the Out of Hours dental helpline on 0845 345 8995 from 6.30 to 9.30pm, Monday to Thursday, 6.30-10pm on Friday’s, 9am to 1pm and 2-6pm at the weekend and 9am to 5pm and 6-9pm on Bank Holidays

EYE EMERGENCIES

The Eye Emergency Department is open between the hours of 8am and 6pm (last appointment at 5pm) Monday to Friday. During the weekend an emergency clinic is held from 8.30am to 4pm on both days. This department operates a booking system whereby patients are assessed either by phone or in person and offered an appointment.
The emergency eye clinic at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford is open between 8.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, 10am until 4pm on Saturday and 10am until 2pm at the weekend.
