Our recommended local restaurants
There are several excellent restaurants just a short walk from the hotel. All are small and busy, and reservations are often essential, especially in summer. Opening times vary with the seasons.
Restaurants and Cafes
Colina
Colina offers European cuisine with a focus on using the best local produce. As our hotel restaurant, Colina is open everyday. Our current menus can be found on our website. The restaurant can get particularly busy at weekends with hotel guests and locals alike, Book here or speak to reception.
Sargasso
Sargasso serves British coastal cooking, real wine, music and guest broadcasting. Located on the Harbour arm, they boast beautiful views of the town and offer both inside and outdoor seating.
From early April, Sargasso will be open seven days a week with a small pause from 4 to 5:30pm on weekdays.
Bottega Caruso
Run by a Southern Italian family, with homemade pasta, the restaurant is open Thursday to Saturday. They import artisanal products to serve in their wine bar and delicatessen ‘La Cantina’. La Cantina is open from Wednesday to Sunday.
Angela's
Angela's is a small seafood restaurant serving local fish alongside simple seasonal vegetables. It is located on the main square and is a Margate must visit!
Tuesday to Saturday - Lunch from 12, Dinner from 6pm.
Dory's
Angela's sister restaurant Dory's looks out onto the Main Sands beach and serves a host of small plates. Dory's is open Thursday to Monday from 12:00-22:30pm.
Lilies
Lillie's serves Spanish style tapas a short journey up the road from the hotel. Small and quirky they often have live music in the basement.

Pickled Fox
The Pickled Fox is a pizza restaurant on the main square. Lots of outside seating and great place to dine, or to enjoy a cocktail and watch the world go by.
Open 7 days during the summer and early autumn
Dive
Dive Bar is a small taco and margarita joint on the Harbour Arm. They serve Thursday to Sunday, but are a little at mercy of the weather.
Their second venue High Dive is now open on the High Street.
High Dive is open Wednesday to Saturday evenings from 6pm
Forts
Forts serves excellent warm sandwiches and artisan coffee with a friendly team. Open everyday
Buoy and Oyster
Buoy and Oyster is one of Margate's most popular seafood restaurants, serving locally caught fish and seafood with a spectacular view and terrace seating.
Open Wednesday to Sunday 12-9pm
Pubs and Bars
Fort Road Bar
A subterranean cocktail bar split over two levels, featuring work from local artists. The Fort Road Bar is a relaxing escape and the perfect place to enjoy a drink and listen to jazz and soul. The Picante is a firm guest favourite!
Under 18s are allowed until 9pm when accompanied by an adult.
Wednesday-Sunday - occasionally closed for events or private functions.
Xylo
Xylo Brewing is a microbrewery and bar located on the beachfront.

Great for a cocktail and offering outdoor tables with sea views.

Little Swift
Little Swift is a delicatessen and cocktail bar serving small plates of charcuterie and cheese. Seaviews and outdoor seating.

The George and Heart
The George and Heart is a cosy pub close to the old town, with rooms above and serving excellent food, cocktails, wines and beers. Open everyday
Rose in June
Rose in June is a traditional pub tucked away opposite the Winter Gardens, with outdoor seating. They host the popular burger pop up Hay's Burgers.

Pomus is a sustainability-driven wine bar, gluten free restaurant and pantry supply shop in the town centre.

Camp is Cliftonville's newest queer bar and community space, with drag acts and pool.

Off License is opposite the Lido, offering a good selection of wines and spirits.
